LGBTQIA SPECIAL ISSUES
"I am a member of the LGBTQ Affirmative Therapists Guild of Utah and WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health). No matter where you are in your journey of living your most authentic self, I'm here to support you. I have experience writing transgender health letters of recommendation and work within an informed consent model. Let me in your corner and I will be your greatest advocate." - Jen
“I am a proud affirmative therapist and have experience working with many individuals from the LGBTQIA community. I have a special interest in helping treat co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions while providing clients support in the coming out and/or transitioning process.” - Brett
SUBSTANCE USE / ADDICTION
"My education in psychotherapy began with substance use counseling. Are you drinking or using more than usual? Have the people closest to you shared concerns about your use? Are you unable to reach your fullest potential because your substance use is holding you back? You're not alone, and it's not too late. Contact me today to schedule your intake appointment." - Jen
“I have specialized in treatment of substance use issues for the past eight years. I have helped people use harm reduction techniques to improve their ability to function through reduced or limited use. I have also helped many individuals develop their own personal substance use recovery plan to eliminate specific substances or obtain complete abstinence while increasing their engagement with family, friends, coworkers, etc. - Brett
TRAUMA / PTSD
"You're not broken and you are worthy of love. Not everyone's trauma stories are the same, but everyone who has a trauma story deserves a safe space to process their trauma and learn how to move forward to live a life worth living. I will provide that safe space for you with an honor and respect of your experiences." - Jen
“I believe trauma is anything that hinders or negatively impacts our ability to learn or sense of self; however, some people experience extreme traumatic/stressful events that completely change how they view the world. I work from a trauma informed approach and employ multiple evidence-based therapies to treat trauma symptoms. I have completed training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Seeking Safety, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Basic Trained).” - Brett
